Financial Assistance

As part of MSU Health Care’s commitment, we offer to the extent that is financially feasible, care and treatment for medically necessary services to those who are in need regardless of the ability to pay for services.

MSU Health Care uses the MSU Health Care/Henry Ford MyChart system. For care received on or after January 31, 2026, MSU Health Care patients are supported by Henry Ford Health's Central Business Office.


For care received on or after January 31, 2026

You may be eligible for help with your medical bills through Henry Ford Health’s Patient Financial Assistance Program.

To apply, complete a Patient Financial Assistance Application and provide required supporting documents within 240 days from the date of your first bill. A written decision will be provided within 30 days of Henry Ford Health receiving your completed application.

Here are three ways to complete your application:

  • Apply online through MyChart: Log in to your MSU Health Care/Henry Ford MyChart account and go to the Billing tab within the top menu and select the Financial Assistance drop down. On this page, you can begin filling out the financial assistance application online. Remember to upload any required supporting documentation.
  • Download and mail an application: Download the application in English or Additional languages are available. Once you’ve completed filling out the application by hand and you’ve added its supporting documentation, please mail it to the facility where you received care.
  • Request an application by mail: If you cannot apply online or download the form, please contact our Customer Service Department at (313) 874-7800 to request a copy of the application be sent via postal mail. Once you receive the application, fill it out including any supporting documentation, and mail it to the facility where you received care.

For care received before January 31, 2026

Assistance is granted by applying for financial hardship at least 30 days prior to any service being rendered. To apply, complete the Financial Hardship Application Form at least 30 days prior to service, or within 30 days after emergency care service.
